Winter League Information - 2009 Season Summary

The Winter League Christmas Party was held at 6:00 PM at The Savannah on Tuesday, December 1st.
Fantastic!

December 1, 2009. Everyone wears their Winter League hat outside after the banquet.

Monday, January 25, 2010 6:30 PM Nine couples met for dinner, drinks and to watch the show (Frank & Dean & Then Some). In atttendance were both Connelly's, the Sweeney's, the Marten's, the Weaver's, the Davis's, the Michael's, the Galmarini's and the Skok's. It was a great time!

Monday, January 11, 2010 5:30 PM About eight guys met at the Savannah for an impromptu get togther. Jim Connelly proposed the idea of getting together with our wives in two weeks.

December No more scheduled events Unplanned events will be announced by email. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Monday, November 30 2:30 PM Published Sunset Time is 4:58 PM. If weather permits, the tee time will be at 2:30 PM. Location depends on whether Hilliard Lakes is open or not. I'll send an email. (The course was closed. We did not play.)

Monday, November 23 2:30 PM There were 7 players and 10 guys at The Savannah. It was a great night for golf. There were five skins, two for Tom Weaver and three for Jim Sweeney. Nice job guys. Both were generous to the kitty. Thank You! The Winter League Investment Club voted to make a short term investment which because of a mistake, resulted in a small net gain to the kitty. Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a good night!

Monday, November 16 2:30 PM There were 6 players and 6 guys at The Savannah. We played as a sixsome in 2 Hours and 5 Minutes. There were four skins, one each by John Sullivan, Dan O'Grady, Jim Sweeney and Dave Michael. Players were generous to the kitty but the Winter League Investment Club voted to make a short term investment which resulted in a larger than normal net loss to the kitty.

Monday, November 9 2:40 PM There were 16 players and four skins, one each by John Duda, Tom Weaver, Dan O'Grady and John Sullivan. Dan O'Grady had a great score, one under par 35! Ten guys (and one girl, Mary Weaver) showed up at The Savannah. Players were generous to the kitty and a good time was had by all. Once again, the Winter League Investment Club voted to make a short term investment which resulted in a small net loss to the kitty.

Monday, November 2 2:45 PM There were 10 players and four skins, one each by Jim Sweeney and Jim Davis and two by Dan O'Grady (including an eagle on #16). Twelve guys showed up at The Savannah. Everyone was generous to the kitty and a good time was had by all. The Winter League Investment Club voted to make a short term investment which resulted in a small net loss to the kitty.

November 2, 2009. Outlined against a blue-gray November sky the Four Golfsmen played again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Weaver, Duda, Sweeney and Davis.

Monday, October 26 3:45 PM We had a perfect fall night for golf. There were 10 players and three skins, one each by Dan O'Grady, Jay Geib and John Duda. Eleven guys showed up at The Savannah. John Duda is being cited here for continual generosity to the kitty. It seems like John wins a skin every week and he gives almost all of it back. Thanks John! The Winter League Investment Club voted to make a short term investment which turned out to be profitable!

Monday, October 19 3:45 PM We had eight guys who played golf and thirteen guys at the Savannah. There were five skins, one each by Dan O'Grady, Jay Geib, Jim Connelly, John Sullivan and John Duda. The regulars were generous to our Winter League Kitty which only took a small hit because of a poor investment!

Monday, October 12 4:00 PM We had seven guys who played golf and eight guys at the Savannah. There were two skins, one each by John Duda and Jim Sweeney. Dave Martens had his all time low score (43). Congratulations Dave! John and Jim were generous to the kitty with their skin money. Thanks! The investment club made a bad decision but the league president overruled a tie vote and a coin flip so the kitty came out ahead again.

Monday, October 5 4:15 PM We had eleven guys who played golf and went to the Savannah. Their were four skins won by Jim Mazzella, John Sullivan and Tom Weaver (2). Several guys were generous to the kitty. Thanks! It was a great night.

Monday, September 28 4:30 PM No Winter League Report was filed with the officers! Weather was bad but a couple guys played.

Monday, September 21 4:30 PM Several guys played and the skin winners kicked back into the kitty. Thanks guys!

Monday, September 14 4:00 PM ADVANCE NOTICE to the Winter League Players. There is a match between the St. Angela League and the St. Bernadette League on this day. Both tees will be tied up from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. If anyone wants to play Winter League golf, you should tee off BEFORE 4:15 PM.

Monday, September 7 4:30 PM Happy Labor Day! The Winter League is not "officially" active this week. Also, there are still leagues on Tuesday night from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Monday, August 31 4:30 PM We had 13 league golfers and one guest (young Colin O'Grady). Eight (8) players went to the Savannah for dinner. There was one skin worth $50! Steve Famiano was the winner and he generously donated $20.00 to the Winter League Kitty. Thanks Steve! Since next Monday is Labor Day, it was suggested that we meet on Tuesday. I will call the course to see if there is open play and let you know by email (and by notification at this site).
