Winter League Information - 2011 Season Summary

The Winter League Christmas Party was held at 6:00 PM at The Savannah on Wednesday, November 30th.
17 Guys, Great food, Great time, Fantastic!

Monday, November 28 2:15 PM There was no golf today, too much rain. There were 5 guys at The Savannah and our Investment Club made a unanimous profitable pick. The banquet is on November 30th. Golf may be over for the year, we'll play it by ear.

Monday, November 21 2:20 PM After a moment of tension, our group of 7 golfers played the back nine at Hilliard Lakes. The sun was shining and it was warm when we started but it was in the 40's by the time we finished. There were four skins . . . Dan O'Grady had three and Jim Connelly had one. (Both were very generous to the kitty.) Jim Sweeney had the low score for the night. There were 8 guys at The Savannah and our Investment Club made a profitable pick.

Monday, November 14 2:25 PM Golf was cancelled on this rainy day but we had 8 guys at The Savannah. The Investment Club had a small hiccup, but we're still in the pink.

Monday, November 7 2:30 PM We had a gorgeous night for Winter League Golf. The greens were putting great and there were some good scores let by Dan O'Grady's 37. (He's a good little golfer.) We had 9 golfers and 13 guys at The Savannah. There were two skins . . . one for each of the Sweeney brothers, Jim the elder and Joe the younger. Jim was especially generous to the kitty as was almost everyone else! Jim Connelly discovered something interesting in the room next door and our Investment Club made a profitable pick.

Tuesday, November 1 3:45 PM It was a beautiful night . . . sunny and 60's. We had 7 golfers and 9 guys at The Savannah. There were three skins . . . one each for Dan O'Grady, Tom Weaver and John Duda. Everyone was generous to the kitty, even Jim Davis who couldn't be there. Our Monday night investment decision turned out to be profitable and we also made a supplemental investment on Tuesday that worked out well. The kitty is "back in the pink".

November 01, 2011. The sun was so bright it affected the picture quality! Dave Skok, Jim Sweeney, Dan O'Grady, John Duda and Tom Weaver just before tee off. FYI: The better golfers are wearing sunglasses.

Monday, October 24 3:45 PM I was out of town but we had 6 golfers and 12 guys at The Savannah. There were two skins . . . one each for Dave Martens and Dan O'Grady and they both kicked back to our kitty. Jim Sweeney took a blind ballot for the investment club and collectively the group made a bad decision.

Monday, October 17 4:00 PM It was a beautiful day but I hear from those who played that it was still a little bit wet. We had 10 golfers and 14 guys at The Savannah. There were three skins . . . one each for Joe Sweeney, John Sullivn and Jim Davis. All three guys kicked back generously to our kitty. Dan O'Grady had the low score for the night. We picked our winning investment with a secret ballot and our kitty is on the upswing!

Monday, October 10 4:15 PM It was a beautiful day. We had 12 golfers and 15 guys at The Savannah. Dave Skok won 2 Skins, Jay Geib won 2 Skins and Andy Trutza won 1 Skin. Dan Galmarini had the low score . . . and he didn't win a dime. Everyone was generous to the kitty . . . and it's a good thing they were because our investment strategy failed again!

Monday, October 3 4:15 PM The course was closed but we had nine guys at The Savannah and we had a good time as we normally do! The investment club diversified its investement strategy and we had a small loss. However, our kitty had a net gain because of the magnamimous generosity of our members!

Monday, September 26 4:30 PM The course was closed due to excessive rain so we didn't play golf. The investment club lost money by making a bad decision. Other than that, it was a great day! Seriously though, we had seven guys at The Savannah and we had a good time!

Monday, September 19 4:30 PM I was out of town for a funeral. Nobody filed an official report. I think that the course was closed and everything was washed out . . . Bummer!

Monday, September 12 4:00 PM Jim Connelly called to report that six guys played and went to the Winking Lizard after golf. A good time was had by all!

Monday, September 5 No golf Have a great and restful holiday!

Monday, August 29 4:30 PM Dave Martens writes: "On a beautiful Monday night, we had seven golfers play and go to the Winking Lizard afterwards. We had wings, pizza, cheeseburgers and pitchers of long island iced teas. There were 2 skins worth 17.50 apiece, won by Rich Frindt and of course, Tom Connelly. I think we even had a little left over to start the kitty."
Tom Connelly writes: "Dave, writing to correct you on the skin winners. I had one and I thought Dave Martens had the other and they were worth 20.00 ea."
Editor's note concerning these two conflicting reports: Tom delivered two beers to me on Number 12 Tee the last time I played, so I'm going with Tom.
