Winter League Information - 2012 Season Summary

The Winter League Christmas Party was held at 6:00 PM at The Ironwood Cafe on Tuesday, December 4th.
16 Guys, Great food, Great time, Fantastic!

DATE START TIME NOTES
Tuesday, December 4 6:00 PM (At The Ironwood Cafe) Winter League Banquet

Monday, December 3 2:15 PM Published Sunset is at 4:57 PM. (Golf Location To Be Determined)

Monday, November 26 2:20 PM The weather was not too bad . . . nice actually . . . and four of the toughest guys I know played nine holes at Bob-O-Link. Another four guys showed up at The Ironwood Cafe and collectively we picked a loser! The group is optimistic about playing next Monday. The location will be determined in the morning.

Monday, November 19 SIDE NOTE Les Davis, brother of Winter League member Jim Davis, died recently. Les lived in Oregon and he was only 59 years old. Please remember Les, Jim and their entire family in your prayers. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, Amen!

Monday, November 19 2:30 PM The weather was great and we had 10 guys play golf and go to The Ironwood Cafe. There were three skins . . . one for Jim Sweeney and two for Dave Martens. Both were generous to the kitty as was the rest of our group. The investment club picked a winner in a close vote and the lead investor chose to make a big investment instead of a small one! Essentially, we are "Even Steven" with two nights to go before the banquet.

November 19, 2012. It was a beautiful day for Winter League Golf. Ready to go off the back nine are John Sullivan, Andy Trutza, Tom Weaver, Dave Martens, Dan O'Grady, Glen Peterson, Jay Geib and Jim Sweeeny. Picture taken by Dave Michael. Jeff Burke showed up to play just before tee off.

Monday, November 12 2:40 PM (front nine) The weather was lousy but 8 guys met at The Ironwood Cafe anyway. That's the spirit. The club made a bad investment by a near unamimous vote. We're still alive . . . never give up hope!

Monday, November 5 2:45 PM Hilliard Lakes was closed and only Dave Martens played at Bob-O-Link. He won every skin! We had 9 guys show up at The Ironwood Cafe. The Investment Club "see-sawed" a step backwards . . .

Monday, October 29 3:45 PM NO GOLF TODAY. The weather was TERRIBLE! We had 8 guys at the Ironwood Cafe anyway. It was a fun night . . . And the Investment Club made a good decision!

Monday, October 22 4:00 PM We had 11 guys play the front nine at Hilliard Lakes and 12 guys at The Ironwood Cafe. There were six skins. Players were very generous to the kitty. It was a beautiful night for golf. The Investment Club took a big risk . . . and lost!

October 22, 2012. The caption for this picture on the Number 7 Tee could be "Birdie, Par, Eagle" . . . which happen to be the scores on Hole Number 6 by Jeff Burke, Dan O'Grady and John Sullivan. (John topped off two great shots with a 50 foot putt!)

Monday, October 15 4:00 PM We had 11 guys play the back nine at Hilliard Lakes and everyone also came to The Ironwood Cafe. There were two skins, one each for Mike Howell and Andy Trutza. Both of these fine gentlemen generously threw a portion their winnings back to the Kitty. Thanks Guys! The Investment Club debated thoughtfully . . . and made a bad decision!

Monday, October 8 4:15 PM We had 12 guys play the front nine at Hilliard Lakes and a good crowd showed up at The Ironwood Cafe. There was one skin and James Sweeney gave two thirds of his pot back to the Kitty . . . What a guy! The Investment Club made a near unanimous pick . . . and lost!

Monday, October 1 4:15 PM We had 11 guys play the back nine at Hilliard Lakes and 10 guys showed up at The Ironwood Cafe. There were three skins, one for each of the players named Dave . . . Dave Martens, Dave Skok and Dave Michael. Special mention of some great golf played by Dan O'Grady . . . he shot a 34. The Skin winners were VERY generous to the kitty as were others. We followed up our "lucky" investments from last week with a thoughtful and intelligent choice this week (Yeah, right)!

Monday, September 24 4:30 PM We had 12 guys play the front nine at Hilliard Lakes and 12 guys showed up at The Ironwood Cafe. There were three skins, one each for Dan O'Grady, John Sullivan and Jim Butts. Skin winners were generous to the kitty as were others. Our investment club arrived at their decision by virtue of the democratic process and with cooperation from the substitute NFL referees, we came out on the plus side!

Monday, September 17 4:30 PM We had 12 guys play the front nine at Hilliard Lakes and 9 guys showed up at The Ironwood Cafe where we sat outside and had a nice night. There were two skins, one each for Tom Weaver and Tom Connelly. Both guys were very generous to the kitty and so was everyone else . . . However, the investment club continued its downward spiral!

Monday, September 10 4:00 PM It was a rough night for the Summer League and for the Winter League. A group of Summer League teams competed against the St. Angela League guys and we lost the yearly battle. St. Bernadette leads the all time series 7-6. The Winter League had three players (although Dave Martens was kidnapped after the third hole). We had five guys show up at the Ironwood Cafe. Generosity abounded but the investment club made two poor choices . . . Ouch!

Monday, September 3 No golf Have a great and restful holiday!
Labor Day

Monday, August 27 4:30 PM There was no golf today, too much rain and the course was closed. There were 7 guys at The Ironwood.
